Dragon Ruler in the new OCG format

With Burner, Lightning, Reactan and Stream banned, Dragon Ruler have to re-innovate and return to its roots in order to stay competitive in the new format.

The Tsurugashima Championship was held last weekend on the August 18, 2013, with the new September 2013 OCG Forbidden and Limited List being implemented. Behind the cut is a study of two Dragon Ruler builds that were successful in the tournament.

Psylocke

After testing for almost a week with the new Psychic monsters from Extreme Victory, I had came up with a decent deck that was rather enjoyable (not so much for my opponent). The deck aims to summon T.G. Halberd Cannon, Naturia Beast and set Royal Decree all on the first turn.

T.G. Harberd Cannon will lock down one of his summon.
Naturia Beast will lock down his Spells.
Royal Decree will lock down his Traps.

With this holy trinity on the field, there’s nothing my opponent could do. Hence the name of the deck – Psylocke; a word play on “Psychic Lockdown”, and a tribute to the sexy mutant from Marvel Comics.

Twilight Beat (Part II)

Continuing from the previous post, we shall make some modifications to the deck so as to retain its competitive edge in the current metagame.

Instead of aiming to beat Undead Synchro like in the previous version, the new Twilight Beat is aimed to beat Dimensional Eatos. Credits to Rauzes for the modifications.

Twilight Beat (Part I)

The Duelist’s Codex is and will continue to concentrate primarily on rulings and game mechanics. However, due to popular demands, here’s a long belated post of a personal deck of mine: Twilight Beat. Also joking known as AKB (AKira Beat) by Bahamut.

More commonly known as Light and Darkness Beat (光闇ビート) in the OCG and Chaos Beat in the TCG, Twilight Beat is simply based on the concept of abusing the semi-restricted Chaos Sorcerer.
